Cape Kudu Bull: the Gray Ghost of Africa. Taken at sunset in the Eastern Cape region of South Africa. Gray Ghost....in American history, it conjures up John Mosby the Confederate Cavalry commander of the great war of the rebellion 1861-1865. So nicknamed for his ability to appear out of no where, strike the Union forces and then disappear without a trace. In modern times, here in North America, we think of the Whitetail Deer for its ability to drift through the woods like an apparition. But in Africa, there is one true gray ghost...the Kudu! Spot a Kudu in the bush and watch him disappear before your eyes...the ultimate Gray Ghost. OUR MISSION My goal is to provide you with the African adventure of a lifetime, whether you hunt, fish or use a camera to capture your game. From the moment you book your trip with us, I personally oversee all aspects of your safari to insure there are no hidden surprises. I will assist you in customizing and planning from start to finish. My expertise will provide you personal service that allows you to relax and enjoy your safari. Do you know the difference between a young Lechwe and a mature trophy class Ram? I do. And if Lechwe is on your list, I'll not only arrange that hunt, you'll know the difference before you leave home. PERSONAL HISTORY I first began dreaming about going to Africa when I was a child at the age of ten. Reading stories in sporting magazines, I could only imagine what it must have been like. I began studying to become a Taxidermist at the age of sixteen while in High School. At the age of 21 I had become a professional at the art. I didn't begin hunting big game until my early twenties and progressed to hunting the Western States within a few years. I have been very successful in taking many Whitetail and Mule Deer, Black Bear, Pronghorn Antelope, Elk and exotics here in the United States, but Africa became a reality in motion when my friend and I booked a 10 day hunt in South Africa and took a total of 28 trophies between us. The accommodations, great food, modern vehicles and outstanding service by both family and staff was only surpassed by the expert guidance of our Professional Hunters: Denham and Meyrick Bowker. These two brothers impressed my friend and I as outstanding hunting guides in every way. Words or even pictures can't descibe how awesome Africa truly is. You have to see it to believe it! I have since hunted many areas of Zimbabwe and continue to hunt much of South Africa's Provinces. Having personally met and or hunted with some of the best Professional Hunters in Africa, I can offer you an adventure of a lifetime. Call me and I'll be glad to answer your questions and assist you in putting together your own Safari. Good hunting, L. I can assist you with all facets of getting to Africa with ease. OPTIONS Family, Father, Son or Daughter hunts are welcome as are sightseeing-photography packages. Dangerous game safari's (Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Cape Buffalo, Elephant, Hippo & Crocodile) are available with us in several African countries as well as package hunts for plains game. OUTFITTERS We book our trips with well established Outfitters who have roots in their home country that stretch as far back as the early 1800s. I know each of them personally. Their hunting properties, concessions, ranches and contacts offer our clients the best when it comes to finding elusive game. Many outstanding trophies have come from these areas including many Roland Ward and SCI record book animals. Choosing to book with us offers you your own Professional Guide...as I take you through all facets of getting to Africa and other foreign destinations. You won't be standing in line for hours while waiting for your gun permit, or getting lost in an unfamiliar airport. Worried about disease or insects? We've got you covered, and many destinations are disease free. I do council our clients on what to expect and precautionary steps to avoid problems. I advise you on trip, medical and emergency insurance, getting your trophies home, money exchange and a number of key points to make your safari or vacation one you'll always remember. Hunting is conducted all year round, with the optimum season being March through October. LIABILITY Any Safari activity is potentially hazardous and it is imperitive that all instructions and or directions of the Safari operator and or Professional Hunter be followed at all times. Gray Ghost Safaris and L. David Keith accept no responsibility or liability for any accident, illness or loss what so ever incurred in the course of the Safari or any expense incurred as a result. We strongly recommend having personal major medical and travel insurance in force before leaving home. An Eastern Cape garden during July
